Tour de France 2012 by Nick Wheeler

Taking place from June 30th to July 22nd the 99th Tour de France an event comprised of top athletes from around the world coming together for a bike race so grueling that only top notch world class athlete could endure a physical and mental challenge like the Tour de France which is comprised of 1 Prologue and 20 stages covering a total 3,497 km or 2173 miles.

The Tour de France prologue on June 30th is 6.4 km long start and finish in Liege who produced Fabian Cancellara in first place, Bradley Wiggins in second and Chavanel in third. Sunday July 1st stage1 took place which is 198 km starting in Liege and finishing in Seraing stage1 being a flat race, Stage 2 on Monday which is 207.5 km starting in Vise and finishing in Tournai also a flat type race on Tuesday stage 3 which is a hilly type race comprised of 197 km starting in Orchies and finishing in Boulogne-sur-Mer so far the riders have accumulated 602 km with standings as follows Cancellara with 14h 45'30" in second place is Wiggins with 14h 45'07" in third Chavanel with same time as Wiggins and in fourth place Van Garderen with a time 14h 45'10".

On Wednesday stage 4 which is 214.5 km starting in Abbeville and finishing in Rouen in a flat type stage. More daily updates coming.
